It was a fairly light last week of the first quarter. Monday’s material involved the reign of Ramses II, known also as Ramses the Great, a towering pharaoh of the New Kingdom. On Tuesday, the students read the Greek historian Herodotus’ description of Egyptian burial and embalming practices. Wednesday was Athletic Field Day, and much fun was had by all. On Thursday and Friday the students watched parts two and three of the PBC documentary Egypt’s Golden Empire. It seemed an appropriate way to send them off to their much-needed Fall Break.
