This week in Latin I we continued to work with the verb conjugations that were introduced the week before. We wrote out complete conjugations in charts and practiced parsing verbs–that is, identifying their person and number and providing a translation based on those. There was a quiz on this material on Thursday.
In addition, students were given an extensive packet of review materials to help them go over all of the material we have learned thus far about both nouns and verbs. We went over this packet in detail together, with student volunteers coming to the board to write down their answers.
This week we will be combining all of our newly learned skills to work in depth with the translation of stories outside of the textbook. Students will be given multiple short segments of Latin to work through for homework, and we will spend class time becoming more comfortable with the grammar and syntax of Latin sentences.
